LOWER EAST SIDE
Jersey barrier furniture, summer 2018
As the Lower East Side continues to grow and evolve, the BID overseeing the district has undertaken a robust placemaking strategy to support the area’s community and economicdevelopment initiatives. Our team was engaged to activate a series of public spaces with modular street furniture, lighting, and bicycle storage. The first phase implemented at Seward Park and the Division and Canal plaza included a series of nine Jersey barrier benches featuring the work of local artists.
OutcomesThe BID reports that the benches have filled a need in the immediate area for seating and respite space, with highly positive feedback from local stakeholders who fill the benches at all hours of the day.
Approximate Budget $100,000
